SoundMaven 0.8 beta
June 27th, 2009
SoundMaven 0.8 beta released today. Although this is not a major release, it contains several useful improvements and vital bug fixes. As we already mentioned earlier, a fully functional mp3 tagger (as well as some usage guide) will be included in version 1.0, which we’re hoping to release this summer.

Version 0.8:
- Improved GUI.
- Top lists from several music publications (XML).
- “Auto Rename Files” feature.
- Track description from Last.fm (when there is one).
- Proper links.
- Audio controls on all screens.
- Numerous bugs fixed… though there are still plenty of them. ;)

Although it should work fine, we still consider this release a beta version. Feel free to post any ideas on how to further improve SoundMaven. Your feedback is very much appreciated.
What about support for FLAC, i.e. support for Vorbis comment-blocks?
This is a really nice application!
Perfectly replaces tunatic for identifying songs and adds so much more functionality.
I’m currently using it with media monkey, working perfectly apart from 2 small bugs so far.
1) When you set a rating in SoundMaven the song will restart, anoying but I’m not sure you can work around this.
2)If you select media jukebox the application crashes (but brings up a helpful restart menu) on windows home server (bug report sent)
It would be great if you could also add Window media player 11/12 to the supported players.
Thanks!
Eagle, nutterguy,
Unfortunately the development of SoundMaven is halted for a time being. I cannot promise anything as we have so much work to do on our Android apps, which is our main priority at the moment. Nevertheless, we’re not abandoning it, and we’re still planning to turn this into a powerful mp3-tagger sometime in the near future.
Sorry to hear that.
Hopefully it can be back in development sooner rather than later.
Really hope WMP intergration can be added as well.
