I do prefer different instances aswell. In my case for “psycological” reasons. If I order two copy jobs, I want to see two windows. Otherwise I lose my path and I don’t know what I am doing, if I did that once, twice or it’s already done but got trapped inside a previous instance.

  • Bruce

Just a quick note. I was copying over a 4 gig file to a 16 gig thumb drive today. It said I was out of room on the target (still had 5 gig left) and needed to free up 354 meg. When I deleted an extra gig of the drive, Tera copy did not move on. The only thing I could do is skip or cancel. Skip said I could resume the copy later, but did nothing when i pressed skip. I pressed cancel and that stoped the copy dialog, but there is no button to “resume”. Is this a bug?

Thanks again for a great tool

    Bruce

  • TheSilent

BIG BUG in the last releases…….
When Moving NZB files from Desktop to Folder that in a Desktop Only 3 NZB files were moved and TeraCopy Said for the other files:
Open error : the system cannot find the file specified.
And the files that i have downoaded it has gone !!!!!!
It’s the first time this happen to me when using TeraCopy, The old version before nightly builds didnt do this.
I dont know what is the problem… i have scaned the HardDisk for any error And nothing found.
    I’m Using windows vista SP1 x32

  • http://none Michael S.

When I work with my Vista x64 and TeraCopy Pro beta Feb 12 for a while, and look to Process Explorer or so, I see about 10 TeraCopy Processes, even when I not started the program at all.

I think it’s because of the copy handler replacing that I set at TeraCopy, but it’s not very normal.

Could the processes be better terminated? Maybe some trouble is caused when I not terminate them manually from time to time (because I forget), and there is kind of overload (sorry for my bad knowledge) troubling the system, resultimg in subltle errors, like it is having too much to do.

    Best regards,

    Michael S.

    Hey Jeff,

finally, you made TC more UAC-compliant — absolutely great job! :)
I’m looking forward to see my remaining two issues (hint: bugtracker ;)) being implemented..
    Again, thank you very much!

    Best regards,
    Martin

  • krishna

    Great tool, love it !!!!

When I open a compressed file in 7-zip and drag & drop a file on desktop, TeraCopy results in error (status column):

“Open Error: The system cannot find the path specified.”

If I use default windows copy then I don’t have an issue.

    Is it a bug?

Note: Using Teracopy 2.0 beta (jan – 64bit

  • http://mai9.net mai9

102 Bruce, the problem is probably the FAT32 in your thumb drive, try formating it with NTFS. As you can see, the “Feb 12″ build should give a warning.

  • Sparky

I am seeing things similar to what Krishna just reported. TeraCopy appears to lose track of UNC paths from time to time.

  • Reidar L

    Hi
Excellent program. I am a proud TC Pro user.

I had a nasty episode where I lost som files because I misinterpreted how TC do a copy with replace.

It seems to me that when I opted to replace – TC deleted the file first then started the copy (which I elected to cancel). I assumed that the target was still there since I aborted the operation, I deleted the source and found the target was gone as well.

Let me throw in an idea here: What if TC (after you elected to replace) copied the file with a temporary name. Leaving the target file intact. If the copy went well, you rename the target to another temporary name. Rename the copied file to the proper name, and finally deleted the target file. I know it takes double space during the process, but it is so much safer. You could even have a system crash anywhere in the process and not loose any data – how about that? Could this method maybe be an option? Call it the Paranoia Mode if you like it ;-)

A shorter version is: Copy with temporary name, if copy ok, delete target then rename to proper name. Not so robust, but one fileoperation less.

  • MilesAhead

Hmmmm I just upgraded my 2 PC network to gigabit wired and I’m seeing some weird things. I was using TeraCopy with 700 MB file as a benchmark to tune things. What’s strange is if I use TeraCopy while I’m on the “Left” PC to copy a file from the “Right” PC it screams! Anywhere from 44 to 50 MB/sec. When I copy the same file back the other way I can get as low as 10 MB/sec. I set network buffers in TeraCopy to 128 MB to maximize throughput. I don’t have TeraCopy as default shell copy handler. Here’s the weird part though. If I use the regular shell copy in the slow direction I’m getting about 35 MB/sec. Go figure!!
It’s like some kind of mysticism here. I can’t understand why the hardware would care which direction the copy goes.

  • Michael

How do you change the buffer size?

  • MilesAhead

@Michael search for Options.ini file and if there’s no [buffer] section you can add it:

    [Buffer]
    Default=1024
    SameDrive=16384
    BetweenHDD=16384
    Network=131072

btw the really weird thing is I tried just using the standard Vista64 left mouse button drag shell copy going in the “fast” direction and I got peaks of 100 MB/sec with steady rate over 70 MB/sec transferring a 700 MB file!! Guess until I know what’s what I’m using shell copy in Vista64!

  • Marko

How close is the release date of the next stable/beta version of TeraCopy? I keep checking this blog about it, so I thought I should ask.

  • YY

How do I clear the copy / move the file history does not record or copy / Mobile Record

  • Will

Anytime a file is resumed the log file says it has resumed the first file that was resumed, not the name of the real file that was really resumed.

So it’s impossible to see what files really where resumed when reading log file since only the first once is logged correctly.

  • Will

    Hi,

    A few requests..

1.) Ability to reorder items sure would be nice.

2.) Remove annoying horizontal scroll bar when it’s not required. If you make columns right size it goes away, but the sizes are not remembered, it forgets when you minimize the window. Also, forgets when going between “less” and “more” views. Ouch, please fix.

3.) Remember window size, window location, and size of columns. By default the window should open centered screened. Also, remember “state”: Has the more view been enabled (as in the more button was clicked) or is using still using less view (as in the more button was NOT clicked).

4.) Do nothing if user double clicks on “title bar”.. That or better yet allow user to maximize window. Looks fine maximized, so why is it not allowed now? Easy enough to force the window maximized using task manager as it is.

5.) Ability to reorder columns. Along with ability to choose which columns to display/hide.

6.) Remember if close, test, and shutdown options are enabled or not.

7.) Open the “options” window center screened. And why is it called “options” in the context menu when the title of the screen is preferences. Should match..

8.) Ability to “Resume All” from the start. Should be added as a “File Replace Mode” as found on the top right corner. Should not be grayed out just because current file does not need resuming.

Very useful when attempting to copy files from a dieing drive. Often I’m able to successfully copy a few hundred files before it fails. Currently as it stands I have to start another file first and cancel it just so that the “Resume All” option appears. An annoying step that should not be required. This is required since if you do not do it this way you would have to click the “Skip” button a few hundred times until the “Resume All” button would appear, assuming there are any files that need to be resumed.

9.) Remember if “Always On Top” option is enabled or not.

10.) For the portable version perhaps it would be wise to say that in the about screen. About window should also open centered.

Also, when is a new portable version going to be released?

    That’s all for now. ;)

    Thanks,

    Will

    Bug in TeraCopy (Feb 12):
TeraCopy Cannot be added to Explorer context menu in Windows vista x64 SP1 !!!
But only work in Windows vista x32 SP1

  • Sparky

It’s kind of quiet around here……..

  • tunghoy

@TheSilent — I’m running Vista Ultimate x64 with SP 1, and I always see the TeraCopy options in the context menu when dragging files.

You might want to try re-installing the software as an administrator.

  • Sean Cruz

It is nice software but the creator need to express his/her creativity with upgradation.

    @tunghoy
My UAC is disabled and i have tried to uninstall it then reinstall it but finaly it’s the same Only default copy handler is work!!
And in the option (Add to explorer context menu) it’s checked.
So i don’t know what is the problem?
    It’s work OK on Vista x32 but x64 !!!

    Hi,
I tested filecopy with Windows Vista 64bit, network copy over 1000 Mb line. Tested files of 100-500 GB in size.
    Terracopy 1.22 gave me a 23 MB/s transfeer
    Terracopy 2 (12 feb) gave me a 35 MB/s transfeer
Windows copy gave me a 110 MB/s transfeer

    Hello,

I am using a HP MediaSmart server with 3TB of disk space. I am currently moving all my files from my previous NAS to this server.
When I select the files and choose to move them, TeraCopy opens and says that I need more space. I can get the copy going by clicking on Ignore but I find it annoying that it will not detect free disk space properly.

    Any clue?

  • CedFlow

When did you do a new official stable version ?

    Please did it !!! thanks…

  • CedFlow

oups I forget to ask when did you do a multi-language version ?

  • Mark

    Hey Jeff.

I’m transferring files from a virtual PC in VMWare Workstation to my host windows, and Teracopy doesn’t seem to be able to do that, comes up with an error. Only the default windows explorer can do it.

    Can this be fixed?
    Cheers

  • Olaf

    Added: Favorite target folders [Pro]

This is a good idea, but it would be a killer feature if it was also integrated in the shell explorer context menu, for copy & move.

Anyway thanks for this great software, can’t live without it.

    Olaf

  • http://beyn.org/ Baris Unver

I’m not sure but I think the processed files cause fragmentation. Do you think you can work on that too so the processed files would be in one piece, if possible?

  • johnnie

I’m starting to wonder if the GUI on TC is hiding some basic design flaws underneath.

  • Logan

Eh….forgive my ignorance but doesn’t the statement ‘nightly builds’ suggest that there would be a new build every night just like with ‘vlc’ from videolan. Change the title or else do exactlt what it states & release a nightly build, not release one every few weeks or so etc. I mean the last build was on Feb 12th, c’mon where’s the rest of the builds?

It’s a great program & I purchased it…….but it still has a few bugs to be ironed out as have been pointed out above.
Is there any ETA on a Final version? or at least give us some indication of when to expect the next beta release build/show us any or all progress to date.
Give us a sign that this project is still alive as there’s been no word from you jeff since the last build on the 12th.

  • WhaHappenedToMyFiles?

Any chance of either turning off the read-only attribute when copying from optical drives, or making it an option to leave it or clear it?

  • tunghoy

@TheSilent — now I see what you mean.

On my 64-bit Vista Ultimate tablet, TC works fine, but this evening, I installed TC on a client’s machine that’s running Vista Home Premium 64-bit, and found the same problem you did: it wouldn’t install as the default copy/move handler and wouldn’t show up on the right-click menus. And that’s also after installing it as the Administrator. TC worked only if I dragged files into its window.

TC was the very first application I installed on the brand-new computer (just unboxed it). So the problem might be with Vista Home x64 and not Vista Ultimate x64. That’s weird.

  • Jay

I found a possible bug with TeraCopy’s handling of Vista junction points (symbolic links to other folders that function as if they were actually that folder). When a junction is moved with the OS, it just moves the link and retains the junction to the target folder. When moved with TeraCopy, it appears the contents of the junction’s target are moved instead of just the junction. The junction then becomes cyclical and breaks it’s original functionality. Someone moving an entire folder that contain junctions (of which the user may be unaware) could cause problems.

  • johnnie

Oh well. Looks like I’m going to have to find another product. After my success with v1 I had high hopes for v2 even paying for the Pro package. ’twas not to be.

  • sa69

    Great program,
Teracopy could to be translated a others language.

“Oh well. Looks like I’m going to have to find another product. After my success with v1 I had high hopes for v2 even paying for the Pro package. ’twas not to be.”

Since this is yet on a kind of beta stage you shouldn´t just give up. BTW whats it exactly you dind´t like?

  • Gavlar

    Does v2 support exFAT?
Using XP and the microsoft update enabling exFAT with teracopy v1.x results with exceptionally slow transfer rates.
    Has this been resolved?

Problem using ethernet external hard drive.
When I try to copy files to a Lacie ethernet drive, Teracopy reports:
    “Target folder is not available”.
It works fine if I copy files from a PC to another via LAN, but not into the ethernet drive.
If I disable Teracopy handler and I try the same operation using Vista copy command, It works fine.
    I’m using Vista Professional x64 SP2.
    Someone can help me?

  • Yone

Just curious… what’s the planned date for the next release of TC? Thanks.

  • appel

The silence is deafening. What’s happening, guys?

  • http://www.codesector.com Jeff

If I move a file from my Program Files folder on my C drive the files move to the new location but the same file also still remains in the Program Folder.
    Can this be fixed?

I’ll fix it, TC should perform elevation to admin mode in this case.

When I open a compressed file in 7-zip and drag & drop a file on desktop, TeraCopy results in error (status column):
“Open Error: The system cannot find the path specified.”

I’ll disable handling copy/move from 7-zip, it make no sense anyway. Files copied twice, to the temp folder and then to destination folder. Use “Extract to…” instead of drag’n'drop to speed it up.

Let me throw in an idea here: What if TC (after you elected to replace) copied the file with a temporary name. Leaving the target file intact. If the copy went well, you rename the target to another temporary name. Rename the copied file to the proper name, and finally deleted the target file.

Yes, it will be much safer.

    Does v2 support exFAT?

Not tested with this system yet.

When I try to copy files to a Lacie ethernet drive, Teracopy reports: “Target folder is not available”.

What OS and filesystem on this drive?

Just curious… what’s the planned date for the next release of TC?

Next month, as soon as I fix all errors reported. I need to finish a new navigation app for Android and few other things.

Jeff can you please add full Windows 7 support and add “taskbar progress” feature to teracopy?

PowerArchiver 2010 which I am beta testing now has this feature.

    http://www.powerarchiver.com/blog/2009/02/27/windows-7-and-powerarchiver/

I am sure a lot of 3rd party softeare will be adding this feature for Windows 7.

Just tried to copy 5.5 Million files from one Folder with Teracopy. It died with an “Out of Memory” Error while counting the files to copy.

Killcopy doesnt seem to have a Problem with that. It works like a charm. Unfortunally it is way to slow. Thats why i wanted to use TeraCopy ;-(

Gonna be stuck to Killcopy then *yawn*

  • Pavlov

Great tool. I’m using the Beta of Feb, 12, and I’m really impressed by its easy handling and fast processing.

Regardless of its high usability I think there is one more thing to improve: I assume every user would like to find out what files have made problems during the process. These files could be identified very easily if one could click a column’s header for sorting purposes, just like in Windows Explorer, so every item that wasn’t OK appears at the top of the list.
I often copy/move thousands of files at once and it is very hard to find out what files/folders haven’t been handled the way they should.
Thanks for considering this for the next Beta.

    Pavlov

  • Tommy

please add md5 and sfv creator!
then TeraCopy will be µber awesome

  • Sparky

Jeff, I’m getting ‘blank’ date/time stamps on directories when t/c has a queue of files that are going/coming from multiple places.

It looks as if t/c doesn’t properly complete a task (closing out files, etc) before moving on to the next copy task. If multiple copies are coming/going from the same source/target, this does NOT happen.

This is repeatable for me. Happens both on local copies as well as UNC path copies.

  • ruben

“Yes, it will be much safer.”

Wait, if i understood correctly the file you want to replace would still be on the system during this process, consuming mbs?
What if you dont have enough space, say if you want to replace a file on a flash drive? Or if you want to replace a 4 gb file on a partition with has only 2 gb available?

  • Jacob

    Hi Jeff,

What a great little utility you have created! Lately I have used it exclusively when moving or copying files between my computers, usb discs, server and NAS. I have reviewed several other copy/move utilities but yours just get the job done easily!

One thing I would really love to see in the coming version is a build in “autoskip version” and “status/error list”. Often I am moving huge amount of data (more than just a few GB), getting to bed, getting up in the morning just to discover that TeraCopy has stopped for some reason. It would be very nice if TeraCopy just skipped those files, and created a list of unmoved files. Currently I am using only the free version, but that freature I just mentioned would make me pay for the pro version.

Looking forward to see if/when that feature is implemented. Thanks for a truly great utility!

    /Jacob

  • TheSilent

Every time When i try to copy more than 100 GB to my WD Book 1T TC stopped in above 30%. So i must end TC process and start again and copy only 30G every time.
I hope you solve TC bugs and make it best every time.
    Thank for your effort.

  • netcaster

    another small bug
first copy oder move some files…

if you try later to copy/move files to the same folder with the option “Last Used” – but the last used folder no longer exists, TeraCopy will stuck…

it qould be helpful, if the folder no longer exists – to force TeraCopy to create em…
btw – thx for your good work – thumbs up – keep goning…

  • Anonymous

“It would be very nice if TeraCopy just skipped those files, and created a list of unmoved files. Currently I am using only the free version, but that freature I just mentioned would make me pay for the pro version.”

You would have another paying customer right here if you did that. Auto-skip is a must.

And multi-threaded copying. Why hasn’t anyone mentioned that? Microsoft has a utility (Rich Copy) that does it and people love it, really speeds up the process.

I also think the option to do CRC check after copying each file would be handy (especially if it was muti-threaded, do CRC while copying next file, should reduce total time needed to do a copy _ crc).

And I haven’t tried it yet, but it would be nice if it could take the length of the destination directory path and then add that to the length of each file name (plus sub folders) that will be copied to determine if any will go past the file system’s maximum path length (and same thing for folder depth). Then it would notify you before it started copying so you wouldn’t have to move everything around after it’s done.

And how about this: option to transfer files based on size, smallest to largest. Small files copy faster than big ones. And directories based on total size of files inside (when copying a folder, pre-create all the sub-folders then copy the contents, or something like that).

Here is one little annoyance I’ve discovered: If I start copying something and decide that I don’t want to anymore, the items that were copied already are still there (which is fine and all) but I have no option to delete the destination folder.

BTW, has anyone checked to see if it works with Unlocker? http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ I don’t have it installed ATM.

  • Brent Newland

I don’t know if you considered this or not, but I think it would be best if you let the free version upgrade for free, but every time there was an update (and every 30 days, whichever is less) it displayed a pop-up suggesting that you pay for the premium features. Avira Anti-Vir does this and it’s great. Of course, Avira updates nightly, but even that frequently isn’t annoying. This program would only have pop-ups once a month, so no one would mind. And on the plus side you’re advertising to those people that many more times, making them remember that your product was made for free and enticing more sales.

  • ruben

I dunno if it has already been implemented but a nice feature would be for the program to display the drive size you are sending the files to. It would be really usefull on flash drives or micro sd cards where you dont have a lot of space and want to transfer things fast.

  • ruben

Another nice feature would be a tray icon that display the percentage of ttrasfer.

  • Jolene

Great GUI, unexplained unpredictability under the hood.

  • http://scrappedblog.blogspot.com/ Roy

I found that TeraCopy doesn’t copy the Date/Time of directory(Folder) correctly. All moved directories have a “16xx” year.

  • Nick

When the destination folder is full, TerraCopy displays “Write error: The system cannot find the file specified”

This is very confusing as, it gives no hints as to what the problem is.

Could you please make it say something like “Write error: Destination drive is full.” like Windows copy/move does?

  • Greg

    Jeff:

Are you still checking the support system? I’ve left messages for you and have job tickets but have not heard from you.

  • Ruben

I´ve found an issue, whenever i try to transfer a file from vmware virtual machine 6.5 to the host machine it gives an error that the file could not be found. It is working with windows default transfer.

  • http://none. One guy.

~Nick No.163, your problem is that your trying to transfer a file bigger then 4gb onto a Fat32 medium. Convert your destination medium to ntfs and try again.

  • Jeroen

I recently found teraCopy and it is just amazing.
It does what I want for years.
I had some suggestions to make it better but didnt know where I should post it (didnt find a forum)

    - At the moment when you copy files from drive 1 to drive to and at the same time from drive 1 (or drive 3) to drive 4
    the second copy is paused,
if it is possible to see if there is no read/write at that moment to that drive start the second copy immediatly so dont pause it

    - If possible I would like to see more opties for the layout, more color opties or maybe skins? What language is it written in? (in our company we use http://www.devexpress.com for .net with skins, anchoring, …)

    - I dont know if this is possible but I would like to anchor/lock copy windows together (something like panels in flash designer)
So: you have to copy windows, you move window 2 below window 1, it locks to the window, when dragging window 1, window 2 moves with it,
when dragging window 2 it unlocks from window 1

i am using widnows 7 rc 32 bit and everytime i try installing or running the program, teracopy frezees my window. and i have to reste pc. will there be any fix for that/ i love tera copy. it used to work on windows 7 beta build 7000. build 7100 seems to be broken. also, the teracopy queue is annoying , i don’t like it to put all my files in the same que. i prefer to have multiple teracopy wwindows so that i can manage all my downl well. also the uac prompt is annoying when i start teracopy, even for a simple file i keeps on asking. i prefered when it had a run as admin. i would suggest that there is a tab feature for all teracopy windows and all files in C:WINDOWS would automatically run under admin rights. and please improve the user interface of this program it seems very ugly when it is run under vista and widnows 7. but it is fast no doubt. could u please make it better and move on with the development of this software. its nightly build not monthly builds, its been months since it had no update

The problem is you have one developer (with no staff) working on several programs. Direct Folders just came out with a new version, so it is very easy to figure out why there is nothing going on with TeraCopy.

I have been running into an annoying issue for windows when copying over the network when copying 20+ GB. I keep getting AM Open error: Windows cant find the network path, yet I am able to tunnel to it with no problems at about the 10 GB mark.

One other good enhancement I thought about is that TeraCopy does not seem to list the destination of the files which is useful for when your doing massive copies of similarly named files and need to know which instance is which.

  • devbro

just a suggestion for a new feature:
when copying the files and hitting a “overwrite window”. show an small info whether the files are of equal size and show a progress that tells if the analysis of the two files are identical(it can be shown progressively so it says that the first 12% of both files are equal. on the first differenece it simply shows “different content”)

I have a question. I want to integrate teracopy on my nlite installation and i´d like to know if theres a silent installer switche.

By the way, awesome new layout.

Any idea when a production version (or even new nightly build) will be released. Love to buy the pro version if I can get a working stable version? This version still has bugs and tend to sometimes stall on large transfers. I don’t understand why Jeff seems to be focussing on other products like Direct Folders, when clearly (based on this blog) TeraCopy is the product with the most interest and potentially the most income.

I’m going to release final version this month. Most time takes two Android apps delepment, not DF. I have to make something new while I have resources. You might see those charts in marketing books about product life…

    Jeff,
Is the final version include other languages ??
    thanks
If you need, I can help you to make a French traduction…

By the way, i still don´t know how to install it silently. Is it possible, or could it be implemented?

    Dear sir,

    i have a question.

we have tested & used teracopy2.4b with MetaSAN( SAN Sharing software,
    Tiger-technology, http://www.tiger-technology.com)

    some error happened.

after installed teracopy to one of SAN member, others couldn’t copy
from local to SAN volume(Local), because there is some file modification.

tested file : 500MB Tiff image file

after uninstalled Teracopy, teracopy still affect SAN volume.

next is the reply about this error from Tiger’s support team.
    ***********************************************************************
The errors that you are getting although TeraCopy is uninstalled are probably because its deinstallation didn’t go right and the drivers, or at least some of them, are still on your machine. To remove them you will have to contact TeraCopy support for a detailed manual uninstallation instruction. Another way, and probably the better one, is to reinstall the OS, because this will wipe out all drivers.
    Tihomir Raykov,
    Tiger Technology Support

plaese, let me know how can i remove teracopy completely without OS reinstallation & SAN volume format ?

    Regards,

    For silent install use:

    TeraCopy.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART

Still no progress on 7-zip problem? :-( Teracopy doesn’t correctly operate with it.

    4 days left… :)

An option to *not* set the read-only attribute when copying from optical drives would be fantastic. Actaully, that’s the expected behavior. Maybe it shouldn’t be an option at all. Just copy the files and don’t set them to read-only.

  • http://noweb fardeen

its already 31 may here. when is the final version? or will there be a delay please give us a time frame. and hope it is bug free. and works well on widnws 7

Just released a new build :p I can call it final version, works good on my systems (Windows XP, Windows 7 32/64 bit). Question is, does it work for you? Let me know if you’ll find bugs. Please report as much detail as possible + steps to reproduce.

Anybody know a good bugtracker? Also separate poll for features would be great. It should be open, i.e one person adds a feature and then everybody can vote.

Just delete TeraCopy folder in Program Files (restart may be needed).

  • Olaf

Wow, thanks a lot for the new build. Works perfectly here. 7-Zip bug fixed (/me happy) and wonderful integration into Windows 7.

I found one problem.. AVG keeps detecting it as a virus and tries to remove it every time its run, but thats an AVG false positive

    Bug tracker? Try trac!

    Very elegant and user friendly.

    @Jeff
One issue I’m seeing in Windows 7 is that the UAC prompts are not being correctly handled. For example when I use native Win 7 to drag and drop items on the Windows start menu to a different location on the menu, I get an elevated UAC prompt and then the move goes ahead when I click on continue. With TeraCopy set as the default copy/move handler, I don’t get any UAC prompts, it just errors out with a status of “Target: Access is denied”. I’m not sure if this is the same behaviour in Vista. My take is TeraCopy should either do the copy/move silently using elevated permissions or ask the user for permission like the native copy handler.

  • Ben

Reproducable bug: (using W7 X64 but same bug happened with Vista X64)

Moving directory from network drive to C:\directory
Moving directory from C:\directory2 to C:\directory

    At the same time…,

Causes the first operation to complete but hang at the end. The second operation never starts and the program loops forever and requires to be shut down via taskmanager.

  • HB

Any chance of making the windows not auto cascade? Since I have the transfer window at the lower left of the screen right above the startmenu, they keep crawling underneath the taskbar.

  • Pas B

The following problem was observed using executables downloaded directly from or linked to from your website.

I tried the 2.3 portable beta, to evaluate the program without performing an install. It was great, until I investigated why certain file copies were failing repeatedly. Teracopy would find a size mismatch. Using a utility to run a CRC-32 hash against the copy, I found the has did not match the one that Teracopy calculated and displayed for the source.

The failed copies turned out to be for .exe files. Examining source and copy in winmerge, I found that the copy was indeed altered; there was additional content glued onto the end.

With some hesitation, I tried the full installation 2.4 beta. I observed the same behavior.

I can provide examples if you want. I’m not sophisticated enough to analyze the altered content of the copies. If you email me, please stick “teracopy” in the subject line.

  • Pas B

    @Pas B
I should add that I do not observed modification of .exe files upon copy when I used the built-in Windows Explorer copy function (having disabled Teracopy’s pre-emption of same), copy via SyncBackSE, or other file copying functionality. The behavior appears to be restricted to Teracopy and not inherited e.g. from an underlying malware infection.
